The pine is a coniferous evergreen belonging to the Family Pinaceae. Within the family are about 115 different species, native to the Northern Hemisphere, but can be found within many parts of the Southern Hemisphere. They can be distinguished from other evergreens by their “pseudowhorl” branches and very tight spiral collection of needles that form in clusters.Due to the fast growing nature of the Pine, the Pine is very popular as timber and wood pulp. While it is usually one of the least popular Christmas Trees, the cones of the mature trees are used widely as portions of Christmas Decorations, such as wreaths. |
