Evergreens

The Evergreen is a plant that naturally retains its leaves (needles) for more than 12 months and can be categorized into the well-known Genus' Abies (Firs), Pinus (Pines) and Picea (Spruces). Collectively, the evergreens have approximately 200 different species, which include, but is not limited to the Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir, Eastern White Pine, Blue Spruce and the Serbian Spruce. Each of these different species of trees has its own unique characteristics that give them strengths or weaknesses over another species, and provides them with different purposes and uses. This can vary from their use as lumber and pulp, to the popularity of them as landscape trees or as the Christmas Tree.

While the unique characteristics that give each of these species their strengths and weaknesses will not change, the purpose and use of the evergreen tree will likely forever be changing with the changing tastes of the consumer. As is the case with human behavior, what is popular one year is not necessarily what is popular the next. The tastes of the consumer and those characteristics which are found to be the most important will continue to drive the popularity of one particular tree over the next. Knowing this about people, we wanted to provide each of our customers with the information necessary to choose the tree that best suits their lifestyle, whether it is for their next piece of furniture, for a landscape tree for their yard or for their next Christmas Tree.

We hope that you will find the following pages useful as we continue to expand and add more content for your reading pleasure.
